I finally was able to paint on a canvas. I put the wooden frame together and pulled the canvas. After pulling the canvas I painted jesso on it so the canvas material would tighten so later I could paint on it. My canvas was 34x20 and I wanted to paint on it vertically. I decided to paint a blue roan cow standing in the tall grass. To give it texture I used modeling paste and mixed it with green acrylic. The cow was a dark, navy blue with tints of white and yellow. For the background I used oranges and yellows to give it a warm summer feeling. Also the oranges and yellows made the cow "pop". I wanted to make this cow look as real and make it look somewhat 3-D. I tried to get as detailed like Steel Cow.
For my first project I wanted to create a horse. I wanted this horse to be an Indian Pony. It would have the painted markings on its face and will be bright colors. I want my picture just to be the horse's head and neck area. I also wanted the horse to be in a dramatic position. I wanted it to have its mouth open either neighing or comping at the bit. I want to have mostly warm colors but have some blues and greens to go along with it.
I haven't really started on my first project yet. I have came up with ideas of what I want to do for my first project. I want to paint a horse with a really long mane, a cow but use different colors than cow regular colors, or a pig face. I have never drawn a pig before. So i might want to draw that for my first project. The biggest artistic behavior that I used would probably be brainstorming because I am coming up with different ideas of what I wan to do. I want to use large paper because I like drawing things really big. I feel like I can get better detail drawing really big. I have finished the practice paintings like the color wheel and the color board. The color board shows all of the different shades of colors when you mix colors.
